Day 1: Coastal hotel to Kandy

Leave the coast and head for the ancient city of Kandy, the last stronghold of the Singhalese Kings. Be guided through many of the sights including the Royal Botanical Gardens, arts & crafts centre and the Kandy lake. The most famous of the sights has to be the Temple of the Sacred Tooth, which houses the relic of the tooth of Buddha. Spend time exploring before enjoying a traditional dance show. Later, check in to your hotel and enjoy dinner at leisure.

Day 2: Kandy, Nuwara Eliya

Here, the climate is much cooler and temperatures are often compared with those of Europe. Highlights here include Little England; a residential area that has traces of British rule with some of the cottages still in their original form, and many spectacular waterfalls. In the afternoon, head back to the coast to your hotel. Please note that there is a strict dress code when visiting the Temple of the Sacred Tooth - please enquire for details.
